Google has shared the first official images of the upcoming Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. For the first time, the devices will have an oval camera island instead of rectangular. On August 13, Google will fully announce the Pixel 9 series.
In the promotional video for the Pixel 9 Pro, Google emphasizes the focus on AI applications with the tagline ‘built for the Gemini era’. In a similar video, the company shows the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which again has a fairly large screen on the outside. The camera island has four lenses, while the predecessor had three. The company is not yet sharing further specifications.
Presumably the announcement is a response to the various premature specifications releases that have appeared online in recent months. Earlier this week, Taiwan’s testing agency NCC shared images of the entire Pixel 9 series, namely the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Alleged details about the camera sensors, the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and euro prices also appeared online.
